Karate - Our
Karate program is
rooted in traditional Okinawan Shorei-Ryu
Karate. In our Karate class, students will
practice: Stances, Blocks, Punches, Strikes,
Kicks, Kumite(sparring or fighting), as well as
Katas (the Short and Long Forms used in
Traditional Karate.) Students will also
train with many of the traditional Japanese
weapons such as the Bo (staff), Sai (small
pitchfork), Nunchuka (two small sticks connected
with a rope or chain), Tonfa (knight stick),
katana (sword) and more.
Keishidojo's Karate program is the first Martial
Arts Unlimited program designed for both
children and adults. This karate program is
modern with realistic yet fun training methods,
that have been designed to make the art easier
to learn and far more practical for today's
self-defense situations.
Some of the
greatest results from learning Karate is the
benefits the students gain from the training.
[
Increased self-esteem
[ Improved
concentration
[ More
Flexability

Better grades in school
Jui-Jitsu (Submission
Fighting) - Jui-Jitsu is the heart of
grappling. Studies show that about 90% of all
fights will end up on the ground. Even if
you are faced with multiple attackers and the
last thing you want to do is go to the ground,
eventually, you will likely end up there.
Keishidojo has two types of ground fighting
applications: sport and practical street
defense. Over the course of the training, a
student will learn both approaches and learn how
to develop base, balance, timing, speed,
endurance, coordination, and most importantly -
patience.
In our Jui-Jitsu Submission
Fighting system of grappling, students will be
trained in the following areas:
[
Joint locks
[
Defensive positions & escapes
[
Positions of control
[
Striking advantages
[
Clinch control
[
Chokes
[ Takedowns
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) - Total Fighting
Concepts - is Martial Arts Unlimited's own
blend of MMA. Training consists:
[
Aikido -
Joint locks
[
Kali - Weapon defense
[
Jiu-Jitsu - Ground defense & Submissions
[
Muay Thai - Striking
[
Judo - Throws & Takedowns
[
Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do - Trapping
TFC is for the
person who wants to train everything but only has the
time to dedicate to one single class.
Combative
Aikido - Our Combative Aikido has its roots in traditional Aikido where
the concept is to use your attacker's energy
against him. How our program is different is
that we use more modern realistic training
methods to make the art easier to learn, and
practical for today's self-defense purposes.
In the
traditional sense, Aikido is more of an energy
learning experience. For example, you will learn
to use your opponents energy against them by
developing a sense of how to manipulate their
energy. If you were to travel to Japan and
train in Iwama Aikido or at the Hombudojo, you
would find two very different styles of the
martial art know as aikido. They are not
necessarily different martial arts, although the
approach to the techniques and the training is
very different.
At Keishidojo Martial
Arts & Fitness Center here in Sumter S.C. we are
more into ensuring that the martial art you take
the time to learn is as useful and practical as
possible while not abandoning what the founder
was trying to accomplish. In order to
accomplish this, we incorporated more aliveness
training and realism into our Combative
Aikido techniques. For
information on aikido classes please call for
information.
Modern Kali -
The Modern Kali program has its roots in
traditional Filipino Kali, Escrima, and Arnis.
This class also has the trapping techniques from
Chinese Wing Chun, and Muay Thai kickboxing
techniques. This program is designed to
incorporate a fundamental standard to weapons
training allowing a student of this art to use
any other type weapon with ease. In other
words, the basic techniques you learn with a
stick and knife can be applied to an asp, baton,
chain, or even something as small as a ball
point pen.
With this modern approach to
weapons, the student will learn the following
combat methods:
[ Single/Double Stick Fighting
[ Knife Fighting
[
Stick and Knife Fighting
[ Empty Hand
Fighting
[ Clinch and Ground training with
weaponry
[ Unevenly matched fighting (i.e.
empty hand vs. weapon) For information on aikido
classes please call for information.
And much, much more.
